PUBLIC HUNTING AREAS IN OHIO
There are many small state parks and wildlife areas open to the public for hunting deer and turkey in Ohio as well as several larger tracks including a national forest. Whitetail deer and eastern wild turkey numbers are maintained by wildlife management at a level sustainable by the habitat in Ohio.  Spring turkey hunting and muzzleloader hunting for deer is becoming more popular in the state.  Public hunting land in Ohio in the southeastern counties can be rugged and require different hunting strategies than in the northern portion of the state.  Listed on this site are some of the larger and easily accessible public hunting areas known to have large populations of deer and turkey.   Hunting pressure is greater where there is easy access to the public hunting land.  So if you are looking for a big trophy deer or turkey, you will want to walk into the woods and hunt a distance off the access roads.   Ohio Wildlife Area Maps are available online from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
